Description

The café wall illusion is a geometrical-optical illusion in which the parallel straight dividing lines between staggered rows with alternating black and white “bricks” appear to be sloped.

It was first described under the name Kindergarten illusion in 1898, and re-discovered in 1973 by Richard Gregory (British psychologist and Emeritus Professor of Neuropsychology). According to him, there are three main classes of optical illusions: physical, physiological, and cognitive illusions, and in each class there are four kinds: Ambiguities, distortions, paradoxes, and fictions.

Whether you’re drinking your morning coffee, your evening tea, or something in between – this mug’s for you! It’s sturdy and glossy with a vivid print that’ll withstand the microwave and dishwasher.
